meh, after a couple crashes i had enough of it. i set last.fm scrobbling on and am using the curent track script with better luck so far.

this may be obvious but you also might try to make sure that the status itself is %_lastfmtrack{mantelpiece} and not just the TITLE of the status (I call mine Last.fm). See here: http://yfrog.com/3wpicture1jxaj

I haven't yet figured out when this happens (I believe it's when I switch to Available status but can't confirm as of yet) but at some points I get a barrage of Adium AppleScript Events that aren't responding that make my CPU use spike to 100%. I quit them all, it goes back down. I might add that's the only AppleScript Xtra I got.
