I've been installing themes like a madman, and this is the first one I've seen which is properly minimal! There's only one problem though, it doesn't work right!
First off, you're assuming a case insensitive filesystem. You have a folder called IMG, but sometimes you refer to it as img in the CSS, and other times as IMG. This is messing up the theme on my Mac. I think I've fixed that, but there's still another problem...
There's TONS of useless newlines in the theme on my end for some reason. You can see what the bug looks like here: http://min.us/mdAUc4l
Very, very nice theme!
I'm using it on Kopete and it works like a charm.
The only thing I'd like to see is maybe a version without the avatars on the side.
The colors, bubbles, timestamps and header are PERFECT. Do not change them!
