DescriptionAdium 1.0.6 saw the removal of the LaTeX plugin. Here is an Xtras form of it.See the Adium Wiki for how to get this plugin working. The source for this plugin can be found in the Adium SVN repository. If you want to customize the font size of the generated LaTeX, navigate after installing to:

When I try to typset an equation in Adium, Adium pauses for a while and then reports back to me that it could not typeset an equation because ES is not responding (and I have to force quite ES). Is there any way to get this working with LaTeXIt instead since ES hasn't been developed in AGES? # by zacw on 05/02/08 at 01:10:19I'll see if I can get it working later; I just posted it for the sake of having it available.
# by evands on 05/02/08 at 10:08:00LaTeXiT has a Service, so it should be easy to get it working. It would be great if we could detect whether one or both services are available at launch and then only install the filter if so.
# by autumnmist on 05/04/08 at 18:16:18After some further messing around, I suspect ES is a lost cause on Leopard due to all the changes in how 10.5 uses Services, and since ES hasn't been developed in ages (still PPC!!)... But thanks, zacw for working on this. :)
# by phriedrich on 10/02/08 at 16:11:02Does it for you work in current Adium 1.3.1?
It complains on startup and I have to disable it, havn't tried a workaround. # by Rakadar on 10/15/08 at 11:03:25Works fine for me..thank you so much for making this work again!
I run the latest version of OS X and adium no problem... # by Cordello on 10/17/08 at 11:45:00This Plugin works great! But how to change the font size...? my equations are so tiny
ß # by kiwibird on 11/13/08 at 10:49:22I am running MacTeX 2008, and have LaTeXiT installed and updated to the newest version. I installed this Xtra, restarted Adium, and tried sending myself a message $$ pi $$. Nothing happens when I press enter, if I press enter a second time, the text disappears from the typing box, but nothing else happens. (Also, now I can't press command-W to close the chat window, and have to click the red button.) Anyone able to diagnose this problem?
The wiki page uses gwTeX, is it a problem that I use regular TeX Live from MacTeX? (Which is the "recommended" mac tex package...) # by blaha on 11/14/08 at 09:46:05The current plugin only contains a i386 binary. It doesn't work on my PPC PowerBook G4.

I used the {LARGE trick and my equations are now nice and large, but they are all pixelated. See the following screenshot:
http://imgur.com/z0AkP.png If i click on the pixelated LaTeX image, it becomes a link with the LaTeX markup. If I click the link again, it becomes a nonpixelated large render. Is there a way to fix this so that it's nice and non pixelated the first time? Thanks! Post a New CommentYou must be logged in to post comments. |

I am on Leopard (up to date with patches), so I'm not sure if it's a problem with ES and Leopard in general, with Adium and ES and Leopard, or just my setup...
