Sunken Gems

Sunken Gems

Submitted By ispytonyv

Description

These status icons are based directly on resources from the Qure ShapeShifter theme (modified slightly) because of their flatter, sunken style. Also, the typing/entered text icons are versions of the same pencil I use in some of my other sets, because I like the extra visual distinction it has over the rounded gems... wanted it to grab more of my attention than just another colored gem.

Changes

UPDATE: changed description and credits to reflect their correct original source (where I'd wrongly attributed them to Apple), and posted with author's permission.

I don't suspect I'll make changes to this set (though I did add a retouched set to more closely match Apple's glyphs), so I hope everyone enjoys!

Nice! Looks a lot nicer than the regular "Gems" style (which is what I always use)

I've been using these for almost a week now and I must say this is the nicest status set I've come across. I love the lushness of these icons. And to top it off, they look great with black-themed contact lists. Something other sunken gems cannot claim. Nice work!

Thanks everyone... the new gems that are bundled with v1.0 seemed way too dark for my tastes, and I also preferred to have them look more a part of the contact list instead of sitting on top. Happy to hear you guys (and girls) like 'em! Any suggestions?

If you could change the mobile status to something resembling a phone or something that would make this set perfect :)

# by ispytonyv on 02/04/07 at 00:51:01

... well, my thinking on making the mobile icon blue was that it resembled my cellphone screen when lit up. I know a lot of status icon sets go with a mini phone icon (or something that looks like signal bars), but I'm not sure about breaking up the otherwise uniform look. What are everyone else's thoughts? I suppose I'd give into the peer pressure and make a variant with a more distinct mobile icon if there was enough demand.

I just figured something in the vein of the pencil you're using for Typing would look neater than just a color.

I've added a retouched version to match the brightness/hue/saturation levels Apple uses a little more closely... though the originals are still included of course! Also, I really tried coming up with a different mobile icon I could be happy with, but no luck just yet.

PS- Thanks to Dan of Qure theme fame for giving permission to use the elements!

hey,
do you think you could make yankee status icons?

# by Chaos on 05/13/09 at 21:56:20

Great Icons =)

Hey, I really love theses icons, but I like a blue available status better, so could you either make a variant, or send me the raw files so I can make my own? Either one would be greatly appreciated.

If you view the package contents of the extra itself, the images are contained... afraid that it's been so long that I no longer have the source .PSD files.
