UnInstall

UnInstall

Submitted By Martin Crisp (Hypercube)

Description

UnInstall allows the removal (to the trash) of one or more Adium X(tras).

Usage:
/UnInstall{XtraType}

XtraType may be either:
  • A specific type of X(tra), in the English plural, e.g. "contact lists", "scripts", "dock icons" (without the quotes, of course); or
  • A 'wildcard specifier', which matches all installed X(tras), e.g. "any", "all", "*" (again without the quotes).
(The full list of terms is given in the Read Me file.)

A list of the installed X(tras) of the nominated type (or all X(tras)) is displayed. Simply choose one or more items from the list and click the "These" button.

If all goes smoothly a dialog reports how many X(tras) were moved to the trash, and advises that Adium X should be quit & relaunched to refresh its menus.

Otherwise an error dialog is displayed. Please email or comment about bugs (or other issues).

Version History:
v1.0 first release.

What command are you sending? Are you getting any error messages? I can't really offer suggestions on "it doesn't work".

Yeah um. executing /UnInstall{scripts}, /UnInstall, /Uninstall{all}, they all do nothing for me. No error. Since /Unscript no longer works EITHER, I have nothing. :( Hyper, fix me up man.

I'm not really working on scripts at the moment (life, such as it is, getting in the way). But it appears some change in Adium has caused the script to break. I'll investigate a few things and if it's easy to fix will update it, don't hold your breath. in the meantime, you can always navigate to Adium's folder inside your Application Supoort folder in your (user) Library folder; and delete what you no longer need manually.Have FunMartin

Looks like Adium no longer allows 'display dialog' or 'choose from list' in adiumscripts, or maybe it's a bug. A quick test using 'do shell script' to send something to the system log, immediately followed by a display dialog, immediately followed by sending something to the log again results in only the first text going to the log and the dialog box never showing up.

One other thing I forgot to mention, running the script outside of adium works fine.

I posted a question about this to the Adium forum and Evan was kind enough to respond. To fix this for the latest Adium you need to put 'tell application "Adium" to' infront of all of your 'display dialog' and 'choose from list' calls. This change came about in 0.83.

Thanx for that info, if/when I get back to scripting (soon, I hope), I'll go through my Xtras... Have Fun
Martin
