Description

This is my first Adium theme.

As Adium is soon getting Twitter support, I'm working on a theme that will give me a suitable interface. Of course, it's meant to work fine with any kind of service.

This is very much a work in progress, but I'm uploading this version now to get your opinions and possible bug reports.
Features included in this release: Zooming profile images.

Look 'n feel inspired by Tweetie on the Iphone.

Changes

Version 0.7: Initial upload
Version 0.8: Polished fade/colors, bugfixes
Version 0.9: Support for "mentioned" (blue), fixed buddyicon aspect, smoother zooming

You should implement %messageClasses% (places class names when replaced) such that "mention" causes a highlight. class="%mentionClasses%" will reduce to something like class="incoming mention" when it mentions your name, which could let you do highlighting of some sort.

Ah, great, didn't know it was there now. Will upload new version. :)

A few comments:

I think the zooming of user icons should collapse based on the original icon's dimensions, not the new - it makes it hard to zoom through a list, and even harder to get rid of a zoom.

nextContent on a context-load are displaying the non-context style (ie, gradient).

Otherwise, looking good. Worth using!

It'd be nice if the colors for sent from me and incoming were configurable or more different - I'm red-green deficient and the green and black are not different enough to tell the difference without staring for a minute or two.

I'm planning to add a white/bright variant and I could make a higher-contrast variant too, when I figured out this first dark one. :) Thanks for commenting!

A secondary concern: the next content looks kind of weird when a ton of them are sent: http://hiks.net/screenshots/66c88cd31...b406460.png

Most (if not all?) Twitter clients will show each nextcontent as a new message, complete with a buddyicon and everything. That seemed a bit overkill with Adium but the usual more merged message style didn't work very well either since each tweet is a completely new message, which may or may not be addressed to you.

A little tricky to make a style that works for both twitter and msn/icq/... :)

I think perhaps it might be best to not combine any messages. Combined messages, in their current form, seem misplaced or lacking in details.

This should be less of a concern now - I've made it so you can set a group chat style independent of a regular style. Feel free to make yourself exclusive to group chats. ;)

Any chance that a variant matching the lighter "Simple" theme from Tweetie could be added?

# by helloandy on 03/19/09 at 17:25:44

Yes, it will be included as soon as I've got everything working with this black variant.

You should mark this as a version 4 message style:

Info.plist -> MessageViewVersion (currently 3, change it to 4)

This makes status message coalescing work, among some other things. You aren't using a custom Template.html so it doesn't matter.

really nice. Is it possible to change the nicknames to that blue like on the screenshot? because i dont use twitter with adium and I think the blue just looks great with this theme. however, I only see the blue when a link is sent.

Hi, this version of the theme is terrible outdated. I will look into your request before updating it.

I really like this style, but I would like to be able to change the font for the names heading each new text. Also, for some reason, I can change the font my messages are in, but it doesn't affect the font of the incoming messages from the person I'm talking to. This isn't a problem with the other styles I have.

Hi! Thanks for your comment. I will look into your request before releasing the new version (which has all of the above, a white version, and more)

I did not have Twitter configured before I installed 10.6, so I don't know if this issue is related to Snow Leopard, just me, or is some weird idiopathic problem. I am finding inconsistency with user name (exists or doesn't), user icon (exists or doesn't), and background color (flat black or glossy).

Here is a photo to show the odd behavior: http://divvyshot.com/photo/kcs/

Usually tweets have a user icon, user name, and a flat black background. The weirdness arrises when one person has more than one tweet in a row in my timeline. The picture I uploaded starts with three consecutive tweets from the same person, but they look different from each other. The picture ends with two pairs of tweets from two different users displaying different behavior.

Thoughts?

Hi, I am having a problem with the text color - anything I type shows up at black text - obviously this is a problem for a dark background!
Anything you can do? I love this theme! Thanks :)

Pretty nice layout, but i would appreciate a way for the text to move to the left side when you choose to hide icons.
