'Sting' for Adium

'Sting' for Adium

Submitted By Tovarizzle

Description

A Unique Elven blade, light enough for a small, juggling duck to wield, while still packing a punch capable of messaging even the strongest of Orcs.

This is yet another Lord of the Rings themed Iconset, inspired by rewatching "The Fellowship of the Ring" and motivated by a request (Props to Infinity). It's based on Frodo Baggins' sword "Sting", a magical Elven sword whose blade glows whenever an Orc draws near.

As always, I hope that everybody enjoys this Iconset!

Enjoy!

Update: Due to school and other factors, I'm not planning on updating this iconset myself. If anybody would like to continue editing and improving this icon on their own, I invite them to do so. As such, please consider the images, code, and other associated files open to all for editing and re-posting, re-doing, reusing and rampant theiving. Thanks!

Isn't sting supposed to glow blue and blue only (when Orcs are near.)

Yup. That's why when you receive a message, it pulses blue and blue only. I just couldn't think of a better way to indicate Idle/Away that wasn't too subtle. I considered having it half/three-quarters scabbarded for idle/away, but it wasn't really noticeable enough, especially from any degree of distance. Thus, I added the Red/Yellow glows, to make your status visible in the dock even from across the room. If you've any suggestions for Idle/Away states, I'm more than happy to consider them for a Version 2.0.

I actually considered working with that set, but I'd have to contact the author of the iconset first. Who knows what's next, I sure don't :-p

Sting is great! I love the glowing blade. Thank you so much. Can you recommend a sound set to go with it? I'm brand new to Adium. Is there anything metallic that you know of?
