These are great...except they don't show up on tabs.

the thing is that they would be (nearly) invisible in normal (ie white) message windows since they're withe without any border

… and i never really noticed before -_-'

One possible solution would be defining a different (black) icon for the tabs. A fair number of sets do that, so crack one open and see if you don't know what I'm talking about.
