DescriptionA slick theme with several color variations. Fiat doesn't sprawl across your entire screen, and it doesn't hurt to look at it either.ChangesNow sleeker, with more variants, and a couple minor bug fixes.CommentsYou can reply to individual comments by clicking the "Reply" link next to each. # by on 05/26/04 at 11:06:05Very well done. Clean and simple. My only quarrel is that the buddy icons are so tiny! I would like to see this style with full-size buddy icons to the left or right of the names/messages.
# by Benjamin on 05/26/04 at 11:35:30I love the way this looks and it goes so well (blue/green) with my current desktop environment. I do wish I could see the buddy icon a little better, but I understand why you made that choice.
Great work - thanks! # by on 05/26/04 at 23:29:08simply the best messageview out there. i'd like to echo some else's comment regarding buddy icon sizes though ... i wish they were a bit bigger.
# by on 05/27/04 at 02:29:27You can increase the size of the buddy icon by going into ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Message Styles/Fiat.AdiumMessageStyle/Contents/Resources/Incoming and changing Context.html and Content.html's image tag to have the dimensions of the image you want. The rest will scale. I set mine to 30x30. Also, change Context.html and Content.html in the Outgoing folder too. I think the best solution would be to have a translucent banner at the top that had the buddy icon in it. That way, you could leave the puny 16px one out of the bar. I will work on modding that later.
# by Wonotch on 05/27/04 at 17:07:04Excellent message style man. I'm also going to have to agree that the icons are a wee bit small, but the fix that Zac posted is working great for now. A few other things that id like to see with this message style:
An option for alternating icons. Custom color support. This would be awesome, and i htink it could be do-able with this message style. Even if the code would need quite a bit of reworking, i could see it being possible. That would be awesome! :) # by on 05/27/04 at 18:00:22Awesome view! One of the best posted yet. It's taken over Mockie Red Alternate as my view of choice.
My only issue is that the buddy icons are small to the point where they're barely noticeable. # by Anonymous on 05/28/04 at 13:16:12i'd like to use this view, but for some reason it's not working for me. all i get is a blank whenever i try to use it. anyone else have this problem? sweet view, though ;)
# by magflux on 05/29/04 at 01:31:441. I agree, the buddy icon can be a tad bigger.
2. I think the user name bar can be a tad smaller. It's rather big for those with a 1024 x 768 resolution :P # by Quincy on 05/29/04 at 20:16:50NEW FAVORITE FOR ME!!! I do wish that the buddy icons were bigger, but awesome message style. Great job. :)
# by kei on 05/31/04 at 19:05:08hm... am i the only one that dislikes buddy icons and wants them gone or as small as possible?
# by ascarinthesky510 on 06/01/04 at 01:40:42i would like either bigger buddy icons or none at all. and a smaller header for names.
# by on 06/05/04 at 03:52:28Anyone mod this for bigger icons yet? I don't want to do the work myself :-p
# by on 06/14/04 at 10:51:16How do you get rid of the user icon that is squeezed into the title bar? (which looks hideous from my point of view)
# by on 06/15/04 at 00:13:18To get rid of the buddy icons, uncheck the box that says "Use contact user icons."
# by on 06/17/04 at 00:28:11I really like this, but my qualm is different from everybody else's. I know who I'm talking to and don't need their image. So, I get rid of the image, but I still have this huge name bar. I want to make that bar more narrow, so that it takes up less room. Half of what I really like about this is that it is simple and relatively space efficient, and I would like to make it moreso. Thanks for the help.
# by on 06/25/04 at 23:32:16I agree with what most people said... the name bar /could/ be a little smaller, and the buddy icons a bit larger (maybe add options for big, small, and off?). Meanwhile I'm going to try that icon size fix. Otherwise, I love it, and its one of the few styles that includes gray as a color, not just red vs blue or green vs blue like so many others are.
# by fuzzywuzzyaducky on 06/28/04 at 05:42:37yes, great theme, Id also like to second/third/fourth that idea about the buddy icons being larger, but inevasive.. the problem with most themes, is the buddy icon intrudes too much, but I would still like to see it, possibly in the same location, but it does need to be larger
# by on 07/02/04 at 16:39:40I like this theme but the name bar is too big. It should be just as high as one line in the chat is.
# by dzhim on 07/13/04 at 17:15:04Anyone wanting a slightly more compact version of Fiat, look no further:
http://www.adiumxtras.com/index.php?a...xtra_id=379 # by on 11/21/04 at 14:48:40can somebody post a transparent theme that shows the same background that's on the desktop? (similar to contact list view) I suppose it shouldn't be a big deal...
# by Ectoman on 03/28/05 at 13:03:14Anyone who quotes "Ghostbusters" in a screenshot deserves a download.
And a beer. # by Chels on 04/17/05 at 00:46:16This is the best one I've used so far. Thank you very much for this simple design.
# by Mike on 05/04/05 at 00:06:05This theme doesn't appear to output the away message when someone goes away (I'm using Adium 0.8) Other themes work fine.
# by on 05/08/05 at 03:51:08For those wanting to have the style show the away message:
1) Open package contents for the message style 2) Navigate to Contents/Resources/Status.html 3) Open the Status.html file in a text editor and change it to read: %time%%message% Save, close, reselect message view in Adium. Having never worked with CSS, it took me nearly 2 hours to figure that out! ;-) # by on 05/08/05 at 03:53:31Ha, crap, looks like the comment system removes all the tags & such. Make sense, but doesn't help me much...
Code with all less-than signs changed to open parentheses and all greater-than signs changed to close parentheses: (div class="status")(div class="time")%time%(/div)(div class="message")%message%(/div)(/div)(div id="insert")(/div) # by dzhim on 09/05/05 at 23:33:14This new version fixes the bug Matt and others mentioned, with away messages (and some other status messages) not showing up correctly. Also, formatting for copy and paste is improved.
# by jesse1087 on 09/06/05 at 18:09:14I noticed on the new version that after a line of text, it doesn't line up with the first line (looks like theres a space before the first line of text). Also after numerous lines the text goes all the way to the left (lined up with the time icons).
# by slyydrr on 08/23/06 at 10:15:39Oh nice, I like the way you cleaned it up (If I'm not mistaken, the actual text part of the context window is flush with the header?)
# by BlackandWhitePenguin on 11/04/06 at 17:05:09This is great, very clean and simple. Needs more color options though!
# by MBHockey on 08/20/07 at 01:57:28I have been using this style since Adium starting using webkit and custom message views. It is even more beautiful in its current incarnation. Keep it up!
# by iPluto on 01/22/08 at 19:14:48Oh it's really beautiful BUT i don't like the photo on the right, there is a way to don't see it ?
