DescriptionA smooth milk themed dock icon with animations for alert and connecting. Also includes an application icon, to copy onto the app. The Milk-icon then appears in dock even if Adium hasn't been started since you logged in. (You need to use the "Download" link in order to get this) Cheers! Good shit in the new version 1.2 • Bundled a Menu Bar icon by Lee Powell. (v1.2b) • Replaced the somewhat irritating, bouncing "you-got-a-message" icon with a pulsating question mark. Quite sublte. • Made a weeny change-the-icon-of-an-application program, for a full Milk? experience. (Bundled) • Works great with Adium 0.80 Version 1.1 • Brand new (smoothly animated) you-got-a-mess icon. • New "idle" icon featuring a static clock (reduced opacity) • Thanks to Ivo N?pflin for fixing the shadow bug in the application icon. Old version are available at: http://pub.flajm.se/etc/milk_adiumx_icon/ ImagesCommentsYou can reply to individual comments by clicking the "Reply" link next to each. # by on 05/24/04 at 23:39:33I think that the different event icons could be more consistent, but overall this is a great idea and a great starting point for more icons!
# by rasmus on 05/25/04 at 17:13:03[mnkeybsness]> Yeah, maybe skip the text and go with some symbols instead, just like the "loading dots" icon... The Alert/new message icon should be updated also. This was more like a quickie, 'cause I couldn't find any icon i liked here. Update will come. Cheers!
# by Scottish on 05/26/04 at 04:32:18VERY nice. Only thing I would complain about is that it looks very plain when you're connected, and nothing special is going on.
# by Jetryl on 05/28/04 at 06:49:06I think that the different event icons are very consistent.
It just plain rules. # by geminia8 on 05/29/04 at 19:19:20I really like it but I think it'd be nice if there were some color options!
# by rasmus on 06/01/04 at 11:44:45if you like an update, i'll add som nicer event-icons, some color-themes and stuff. Will fix some after work today. Cheers!
# by on 06/11/04 at 02:02:00Very nice, but it does need a better default connected icon (with some sort of symbol on it).
# by caramelo on 08/06/04 at 07:44:29Just perfect!! I installed Shapeshifter's "Milk" and is just what I was looking for. :-D
# by on 10/18/04 at 22:27:46In my opinion, this should be default in Adium; even though the duck is cute, this is just much more suitable for an IM client.
# by on 11/02/04 at 16:23:46Really nice. Been using it for a while. However not too keen on the dotted outline of the bubble when not connected :(
Apart from that, love it. # by on 11/02/04 at 16:25:08Heh, one more thing. A nice suggestion for the unconnected icon would be a slightly transparent bubble maybe :)
Do this and i'll love you :) # by on 11/07/04 at 23:04:24I adore this icon! goes great with my other docklings :) But still no perfection in my dock, It should be just a round white dot instead of the chat-bubble. Can I, when finished with my own.. similar .. icon, use your idea for connecting and new message? Drop me an email if there's a chance.
# by telic.detour on 01/24/05 at 07:16:27Awsome. I've been using this since day-one, and have never looked back. Overall I'd say the update is a good improvement, however, I think the new-message indicator would be better if it blinked instead of bounced. Bouncing has a very specific meaning in the dock, and blinking would be more consistant anyways.

Oh, well. I must admin I haven't thought of that. I'm running my dock at the right side of the screen. One day, I'll make another revision, maybe a few different version. I'm open to suggestions. # by on 02/09/05 at 08:33:52I loooooove this set. Even though it doesn't quite fit in with my Smoothicons look, it works very well; my only suggestion is to change to a sans serif font. That's just IMO tho. :)
# by caramelo on 02/22/05 at 16:21:39After a long time using it, and now installing Mac OS on a new HD, I was looking for it. I consider is the BEST adium dock icon, definitely. Congrats.
# by Rasmus on 02/26/05 at 15:04:45Thanks a bunch! The payment for doing this is to known people ejoy it!
# by Anonymous on 03/02/05 at 00:01:49I really love this icon, though I would prefer that bouncing icon as an option or change the alert ! thing to some other color or offer options so that it can match people's color schemes... (yes a very small annoyance, but a nice one if possible). besides that, love it. Georgia Italic that you used for the type?
# by Rasmus on 03/06/05 at 23:11:03Actually, yes. That's Georgia. I admit it - I'm a die-hard Clarendon-lover! Haha.
Maybe I'll make those things an options in the next release. Thanks for the input man. # by Dylan1077 on 03/25/05 at 07:56:23Just applied the Milk ShapeShifter theme, and the first thing I looked for was Milk Xtras. This is perfect, good job.
# by on 04/03/05 at 22:24:03The exclamation point isn't flashing, or showing up at all for me. Any ideas?
# by on 04/04/05 at 06:45:07rasmus - these icons are soo tight! i'll buy you a beer next time i see you on stureplan ^_^ one thing - have you tried out the latest betas of adium? they did an update to the "chat bubbles status icons" and now they don't look smooth at all. I was just putting one and one together here ;) keep up the good work!
# by ilona on 04/05/05 at 17:45:53it's really neat! love it to bits. *grinz*
just one thing though. my menu bar icon still doesnt show the milk icon though i've already installer v1.2. it still remains as the duck icon. any ideas how i can change it please? # by gametime10 on 04/05/05 at 19:38:53Can you include a menu bar icon for incoming messages? The "adiumRedHighlight.png" and "adiumRed.png" are still unchanged. Thanks.
# by on 04/06/05 at 00:48:21If anyone's interested, I threw together some more matching menu bar icons in Photoshop. (For Offline and Red)
Enjoy! http://the_baron.home.comcast.net/oth...umIcons.zip # by Rasmus on 04/06/05 at 14:31:41antipeople> What version of Adium are you using?
Johan> Oh! That's a shame... ill try install it tonight when I get back home. Looking forward to that beer dude! ;) ilona> Have you patched the adium application with the budled application? If not, read the readme.txt file for instructions. gametime10> I'll release a new update of version 1.2 soon, when I have checked out that scary new thing in the beta. Thanks everyone for your feedback. # by Weisheng on 04/17/05 at 02:34:51Great dock theme! Just wondering is it possible to increase the icon resolution, cos they look slightly blurred compared to other dock icons at max magnification. Anyway thanks for the fantastic effort! Cheers
# by Rasmus on 04/17/05 at 22:20:09They are made in full resolution, and is as sharp as it gets. However, I have not applied any artificial sharpness to the full resolution icons. (Only to the smaller, 48, 32 and 16px2 in the app icon.) Maybe you are using the beta of Adium, wich has some changes made to the dock icon handling. Haven't checked it out yet. Remember that no icon will be really sharp, unless you resize it in even steps. That is 64, 32, 16, 8, etc.
# by Weisheng on 04/22/05 at 22:48:35Well no matter am really enjoying these dock icons :) thanks for the great work!
# by on 05/05/05 at 19:32:24fabulous ! sleek and elegant, just in the OS X attitude... the duck is a bit to extravagant for me : )
been using this theme since months and haven't seen anything better yet. great work # by Anonymous on 06/22/05 at 02:41:44nice..
ever considered attempting a black version (instead of white)? # by Rasmus on 07/11/05 at 05:32:57I'm glad you guys like it!
No, Ive not considered making a black version, but why not?! Wnot be too much work. But, the Swedish summer is here and it's sooo nice outside. Hehe. # by breezemaster on 11/15/05 at 06:02:18I love it too.. only one thing. When I go to my dock and I'm offline.. its the only icon flashing all the time. Quite distracting. And considering I got this theme for its pure neutral quality (which its does beautifully) this seems like quite an unusual contrast.
Anyone know how I can turn the offline animation off...?? # by rasmus on 11/16/05 at 03:59:24breezemaster: So, you're saying you got a message, then you go offline, and the you-got-a-message animation (with the blinking exclamation) still showing up? I don't know if it's technically possible to have two different icons for those states. However, you can select Show Package Contents on the icon bundle and edit the plist to remove the animation completely. It's quite self-explainatory in there. Anyway, I'm glad you like it.
# by Dylan1077 on 11/17/05 at 21:20:19You should make it in colors! It would be absolutely amazing. Vibrant colors.
# by breezemaster on 11/22/05 at 08:20:43Hey Rasmus, What I get is... when I've no messages or anything (blank speech bubble). I go offline and I get three circles, one filled, animating from right to left. No blinking exclamation mark or anything. I had a look in the package of Adium and couldn't see what you were talking about. Whats the name of the plist I'm looking for...?
# by rasmus on 11/22/05 at 16:36:47It's called IconPack.plist and lies directly in the bundle. Edit it using any text editor. (even though Apple Property List Editor is easier to use, if you have it)
What you're looking for is in the "State" dictionary. Just mess around and you'll se what happens. # by breezemaster on 11/26/05 at 10:18:50cool.. thats done it. Cheers.
Like you say.. very obvious. For anyone else wanting a look at this.. the IconPack.plist can be found in user/library/application support/adium 2.0/dock icons/milk.adiumicon/IconPack.plist and Property list editor is easy peasy.. only it was perhaps installed with the Apple developer pack I think.. so perhaps not standard OS software. # by Arena on 05/18/06 at 21:18:29emm I don´t think I should be posting this here :) but well i am in DEEP shit... I did download this and yes adium said that it worked and yes i went into preferences and selected milk and then NOTHING !!!??? nothing changes!! all i can still just do is change the old adium icons from green to blue to ...... and this happens alot when i´m downloading dock icons I like to use... none of them really work .. few very few simple ones do but .. god... i´m a woman... do i really have to spend days trying to figure this out... WELL I´LL TELL YOU.... I CAN´T !!! yes i´ve re-installed adium many times but what more can I do.. give me real help here people !!! PLLLEEEAAASSEEE......
# by rasmus on 05/28/06 at 11:47:26Have you deleted all preferences and app-support files when making the reinstall? Else, you just reinstall the program runtime itself, not the state of the program.
# by lolamione on 06/23/06 at 13:40:30It looks so amazing! The best dock icons ever, in my opinion. I'm so glad you did this!
# by Chibi on 08/30/08 at 04:06:19I would recommend "New Message" and "Away" in red font and "Connecting" in blue, but besides that, very good work.
# by goaskalicia on 06/18/09 at 09:24:22I love this set but I can't seem to intergrate the Menu Bar icons?! It's still the Adium duck, when I go to Menu Bar in prefs it has Adiumy and Adiumy Flashy but no Milk. I really want my Milk Menu Bar icons to work! I followed the ReadMe but there is no Adium.png in Adium>Contents>Resources so I can't replace them! Halp :(
