Well, I don't really like loud soundsets, they're too distracting when you're doing other things, so I prefer a quiet reminder that I have a message, not a loud alert.

That's why there is a volume slider in the sound preferences.

even with the slider in the prefs at the max i hear nothing over whatever im listening to. so its either music or os9 noises and as neat as it could be to have os9 noises i need the music more
