Well actually that's not a gloss, it's a metallic ornament, when we produced the CS3 for all iconset (http://www.mercatecnia.com/downloads/) we ran out of diferent colors for the diferent apps very quickly so we gave a metallic finish to all Web-related apps, a Pastel color to iLife apps, Black Color for Final Cut Studio, etc. etc. etc.

Otherwise it could be quite confusin telling dreamweaver from adium online, etc.
